Shauna has more than 16 years’ experience handling legal matters for both public and private companies in the high tech industry, and brings extensive technology, M&A, corporate governance, compliance, intellectual property, and commercial experience to her position. Ms. Martin also has extensive experience serving as General Counsel for a variety of high-tech companies, and often serves as an out-sourced General Counsel to her clients.

Experience
Prior to returning to Lancaster Helling, Ms. Martin served as EVP and General Counsel for GENBAND, an international telecommunications company which provides IP network solutions to customers worldwide with active operations in over 50 different countries. At GENBAND Ms. Martin managed the legal affairs of GENBAND with a small team of lawyers. In addition to managing the day-to-day legal affairs of the company, she also closed more than a dozen financing rounds on behalf of the company and led the company to close over a dozen technology and asset acquisitions and divestitures, including the historic acquisition of the Carrier VoIP and Application Services business out of bankruptcy from Nortel, which quadrupled the size of GENBAND’s operations.
Prior to her full time role as General Counsel for GENBAND, Ms. Martin was a partner with Lancaster Helling, then known as Lancaster, Helling, Martin & Grable, L.L.P., where her practice focused on providing legal counsel to high tech companies, including GENBAND.
Ms. Martin’s past experience also includes serving as General Counsel for Hotels.com and for Tristar Aerospace Co. She began her career as an associate at Husch Blackwell Sanders LLP, practicing commercial litigation representing banks and other business clients.
Admitted to practice law in Texas and Arkansas, Ms. Martin is a member of the Texas Bar Association. She has also been an active member of the Texas General Counsel Forum, the Association of Corporate Counsel and is a founding member and former President-Elect of the Association of Women in Technology.
In addition to her corporate legal work, Ms. Martin is an active advocate for breast cancer issues, serving on the Board of the Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas for the past six years (two as President of the Board and currently as Chair of the Development Committee). She is also a founding member of the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls, a social network of young breast cancer survivors, and an author of a breast cancer advocacy blog and a frequent speaker and chair of breast cancer fundraising events.
